David and Valeria Melendez Newsletter
January - March 2018
Hello there!
We are so happy to share with you our newsletter in this beautiful adventure serving in Pachuca, México.
Many beautiful changes have arrived for us as family and ministry. Some things were unexpected, but grateful for the continuing in the Lord's way.
Last December we had the opportunity to bring more than 2,000 donated books to the church, to Ana´s and Regina´s School and for our ministry. It was such a blessing!
The school library had less than 100 books from preschool to middle school. Now they have more than 1,500. Children are so happy!
The church now started a library with more than 1,000 books, so it is great to know that people can go there and learn more about God and his principles.
God opened doors to be a teacher and management assistant at Ana´s and Regina´s School. It was a surprise for us, but we trust in God´s plan.
In the school, I have the opportunity to talk about God in private with my students and the staff when they share with me their worries… Jesus is knocking on some doors! Please, help us pray for all these beautiful souls that listen every day to something about our amazing God.
As you know, children are vulnerable and some stories are very sad, so we understood that Jesus wants us there for a while. We are praying for hard situations like: divorce, depression, anger, bullying, lack of hygiene, not attendance at home and even crisis identity. Well, these are my (eight to ten years old student's) situations. All of them need Jesus love!
Ana and Regina are very happy in their school too. They are having a moment to be just students.... no missionary schedule for now, but after 5 years of intense work, these little (well, not that little now) missionary kids need a rest, and they are doing great with just "A" in their grades. We are proud parents!
David had the opportunity to serve at "Youth with a Mission Pachuca" translating, guiding, driving and taking care of an awesome group from Texas, visiting a jail, a school, churches, parks and preaching the gospel in Pachuca and villages.
We had the great blessing to celebrate Efrain´s birthday in Puebla so he could met all his relatives. It was a great weekend for us!
I have been helping with women ministry at church “El Buen Pastor”. New women are attending, and we hope more ladies could come and share these times to encourage their hearts.
In the meanwhile, we are finding more clarity in the vision of the ministry, we walk the path serving, loving and trying to be a testimony with integrity for the people we serve here in Pachuca.
Please continue praying for us:
- Strength and wisdom to execute a good job as a teacher and assistant management at school. It is hard to be both... but it has been an opportunity to talk about God to more people.
- Wisdom for new decisions and job opportunities for David.
- Ana is turning 15 this month! In the Mexico tradition, we are having a Birthday Party! Her grandparents are supporting this event. Please pray God supplies and take care of so many details. She is very excited!
- Regina has been studying ballet since she was 4 years old. Unfortunately, we can´t afford the $100 dollars per month class here in Pachuca. Please pray that the Lord do a miracle for her somehow!
- Efrain's eye surgery is coming soon. Pray that God provides and gives peace for him.
- David´s friend is considering divorce. Please pray for wisdom and revelation to his heart and mind from the Holy Spirit. We are praying for them.
- Please pray for Lucy the cooker. Her daughter Noelia (17 years old) is in a relationship with an older man. She is trying to do everything in a legal procedure but in Mexico this kind of process is really slow.
- Please pray for our marriage to get stronger and for unity as a couple and work team.
- Pray for our next projects: A puppetry training for YWM in Pachuca; puppetry presentation in a school: opening for the couples game night, and Bible study for women at home.
We love you and bless you!
