Concession Booth Time

Takes a lot of team work to run our concession booth!

First home game of the season was on Friday, Sep 11th. The ministry had 15 folks signed up in advance to run our stand, yeah! Aramark recommends 16 people, but they let us run with what we had, which was plenty to be honest.  Food service is managed differently this year with vendors bringing food at specific intervals only–no pleading for more.  And they did a good job! we had plenty of food prepped and ready to go when the gates opened.

This year we have a new group of volunteers helping to run the booth: College and Career group from Vision Church. yeah! young people with lots of energy! lol.

Halfway through the second quarter, a huge rain storm popped up and started pouring the rain, then the lightning! And everything shut down in a hurry. Ouch! So much for the big lines and lots of food.  In the end, it was a 90 minute rain delay to the football game, during which they cleared out all the fans. Bummer!

Athletics finally let people back in, but by that point, only the really committed fans returned to watch the remainder of the blowout game against the Richmond Spiders. Oh well, sold what we could; good lesson for the food vendors, we will sell it if we can.

We need volunteers to work the concession stand with us.  The work is not “hard,” but the day is very long, and that can be difficult on the lower back. But the old adage “many hands make light work” is certainly true here. 🙂
